A historic core
Bernalillo’s older homes along and off Camino del Pueblo include adobe and early twentieth-century houses that have been rewired a piece at a time. Expect a mix of old and new: some original circuits, some newer additions, and panels that have been asked to do more every decade.
Newer streets and Placitas
Newer subdivisions in and around Bernalillo, and the homes scattered through Placitas, tend to need upgrades rather than rescue: better lighting, ceiling fans, surge protection, EV charging and safety devices brought up to today’s expectations.
What PCM brings
Whatever the age of the house, the approach is the same: look at what matters, explain it in plain language, give clear options, and let you decide.
Bernalillo questions
Asked in Bernalillo.
Does PCM Electrical work in Bernalillo and Placitas?
PCM Electrical serves Albuquerque and the surrounding area, which includes Bernalillo and Placitas to the north. Call (505) 463-1276 to check scheduling.
My older Bernalillo home has two-prong outlets. Can I just swap in three-prong ones?
Not by themselves. A three-prong outlet without a ground wire behind it gives a false sense of safety. The options are running a ground, or installing GFCI protection and labeling the outlets as having no equipment ground, which code allows. An electrician can tell you which fits each circuit.
How often should an older home’s electrical system be checked?
PCM recommends an inspection every 3 to 5 years, and more often for older homes or when you notice problems like flickering lights, warm outlets or frequent trips.
